The Executive Board of PT Council of Stamford Signs on to Call to Action: Stamford Stands Against Racism

As the executive board of the umbrella organization for Stamford Public Schools’ Parent Teacher Organizations, we unanimously agree to join over 100 Stamford organizations and businesses to take action against racism in our community by joining the Call to Action: Stamford Stands Against Racism. As individuals we are committing our time and attention to attend multiple anti-racism training sessions to strengthen our commitment as an organization to represent all Stamford parents. Additionally, we pledge to examine our bylaws and make changes in favor of inclusivity and anti-racism so that our organization’s policies actively dismantle systemic racism.

We are making a distinction between the PTC executive board and the general body, which includes representatives from 21 Stamford Public Schools. The board is signing on now with the hope that our members will consider it themselves. We wish to set an example for all engaged parents to assess their own commitment to inclusion at all levels of leadership.

One of Stamford’s greatest strengths is its diversity and we hope that by answering this call to action we can build on that strength by making the Parent Teacher Council of Stamford a diverse and inclusive representation of all Stamford Public Schools parents.
